West Windsor is a desirable town, and everybody wants to live here. We have balanced our obligation for providing inclusive housing for people of different income levels with the need to maintain our environment, quality of life and tax burden for all residents:
- Minimized the impact of Round 3 affordable housing obligations through smart planning and negotiation.
- Carefully selected sites and minimized required numbers for Round 4 through foresighted planning and deep analysis to reduce strain on schools, traffic, and infrastructure.
- Increased the required affordable housing set-aside to 25%—the highest in New Jersey—ensuring fewer developments are needed to meet state quotas.
- Partnered with the school district to protect the Perrine property, preserving it from residential development and reserving it only for a potential future elementary school.
- Preserved the Hall property as open space which prevented the development of 400+ housing units while protecting environmentally sensitive land.
